About us
Welcome to RAE - DRC:
Background
In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), agroecology is a strategic response to the major challenges of food and nutrition insecurity, vulnerability to climate change and the need for food sovereignty. The country has considerable agricultural potential: more than 80 million hectares of arable land, a wide variety of agroecological systems and a dynamic fabric of peasant organisations and social movements. However, unsustainable agricultural practices and the aggravating effects of climate change continue to weaken the resilience of the country.
The Agroecological Network in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is a multi-stakeholder dynamic born from the collective will of peasant organizations, research, NGOs and microfinance institutions to act together to promote and support the development of agroecology throughout the Congolese territory.

Main objective:
The overall objective of the Agroecology Network in the DRC is to promote sustainable food systems based on agroecology.
