Activities & Strategies

To achieve the objectives set, the Agroecology Network in the DRC undertakes to:

  • Organize/participate/initiate the drafting of a strategic plan and a national agroecology action plan in the DRC;
  • Organize the structure of the Agroecological Network at national and provincial level;
  • Capitalizing and disseminating knowledge and innovations in agroecology;
  • Produce a directory of actions/actors of agroecology;
  • Organize events and multi-stakeholder meetings to promote agroecology;
  • To conduct policy dialogues with policy makers and stakeholders;
  • Carry out research and action in agroecology;
  • Support network members to experiment and test agro-ecological innovations;
  • Capitalize and disseminate success stories;
  • Encourage or strengthen the establishment of decentralized agroecological farms-schools, with participatory approaches (management of local seeds and other technologies);
  • Take into account and value endogenous knowledge in training;
  • Encourage the opening of organic production basins;
  • Support certification of organic products;
  • Produce and share statistics.

To ensure the success of its mission, the Agroecology Network in DRC will implement the following strategies:

  • Identification and selection of members: Mapping of actors involved in agroecology;
  • Formal engagement of institutions: Collaboration with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Developing strategic partnerships: Cooperation with research institutions, NGOs, producer and consumer organisations; public and customary authorities;
  • Ongoing dialogue and openness: Ongoing dialogue with the various actors to ensure coherence of actions.

The Agroecology Network in the DRC is guided by fundamental values that guide its actions and commitments towards a sustainable and inclusive agroecological transition.

 

  • Consistency: We ensure that our actions are aligned with the principles and objectives of agroecology.
  • Sustainability: We are committed to promoting agricultural practices that preserve natural resources, ensure ecosystem resilience and ensure the sustainability of farms.
  • Collaboration: We value the work in synergy with institutional, community and scientific actors, promoting the exchange of knowledge and experience to achieve our common goals.
  • Innovation: We encourage research, adoption of innovative techniques, technologies and approaches to improve agroecological practices and enhance their impact.
  • Compliance and inclusion: We recognize and value cultural diversity and endogenous knowledge, while ensuring gender equality and social inclusion in all our initiatives.
  • Participation: We encourage the active involvement of all members in decision-making and network initiatives for democratic and shared governance.
  • Transparency: We are committed to ensuring open and accessible management of the network's resources, decisions and results by promoting honesty and accountability.
